About

Closer is a two day conference that is a gathering of Worship Leaders, Pastors, Musicians, Creatives, Influencers, and Worshippers who have a common desire for a “deeper” and more genuine connection to the Father. This gathering is about more than a powerful song or increasing your gifts; it’s about connecting to the reality of God’s Kingdom in us. There is an invitation to come deeper…to come closer. Heaven is looking for partners of the original design. Come be empowered with revelation, resources, and a greater passion to Host God’s presence with our individual lives, as well as our collective times of worship.

Theology of Worship

Dorene Guy

What is God’s original design for worship? What is His heart for worship now? God is an intentional God, and He does everything with a purpose according to His heart. What we believe about worship and God ultimately enhances or stifles both our individual times of worship, and our corporate times of worship.

Lifestyle of a Worshipper

Michael Oldfield

God’s desire is for His children to be transformed into the image of His Son as our primary identity, with the understanding that, THAT is the highest form of worship we can give. Living life to bend our will to the will of the Father and do as Jesus did: Go where He goes, Say what He says, and do only what the Father says do. This is the Jesus life, and this is the Lifestyle of Worship.

Recommended for All Attendees
This class will teach how to practically apply the principles
taught in the Identity in Worship Class.

Creative Arts in Worship*

Tracy Calder

Worshipful expression is so much more than the box that we have tried to keep it in. God has given us many ways to connect with Him other than music. Come and explore these different expressions of worship and how they bring us closer to our Father.

Recommended for those who have a hunger to be creative.  Those who have a hunger to show the world new ways to worship.

Partnering with the Sound of Heaven 101*

Theresa Burkhalter & Matt Hines

God is raising up a tribe of modern day Levites who will protect the presence of God, and worship Him in spirit & Truth. We have been called to be watchmen, gatekeepers, Priests, singers, musicians, and technicians that would usher in the things God wants to release throughout the earth. The Kingdom of God is IN each of us!! This class will focus on the responsibility to PREPARE and EQUIP, to increase your skill-all of which are an act of worship to the Lord. We will focus on:

-Creating a Set List that will propel us into Encounters with His Presence.

-FLOW.  How to FLOW in unity as a team … How to step into “the River” of God’s presence and allow Him to “habitate in our worship”. What is your contribution during these moments as a vocalist, a band member, a technician?

-How to have an Effective Rehearsal that prepares us for True and Free Worship

Recommended for Worship Leaders/ Band Leaders/Worship Team Members/Tech Team Members/Sound Engineers

*Available Friday Only
**This class will be an interactive workshop

Identity in Worship

Gerald Murphy

Getting back to our “Identity in Worship” begins with understanding God’s original intent and design for worship and how we as sons and daughters of God relate to that design. Who are we in relationship to everything else God created (angels, animals etc.)? How does that determine the significance and power of our worship? What is our role/function within worship? What is the purpose of our worship? Who/what are we to worship? What does our worship point towards? When we can answer these questions we will find our identity in worship. *This class will be CONCEPT and PRINCIPLE Oriented. Our “Lifestyle of a Worshipper” class will teach how to PRACTICALLY APPLY the Principles taught in THIS CLASS.

“Leading” in Worship

Daryl Wicker

This class is about leadership and servanthood. If you are involved in the music that is performed on any platform in front of people, you are considered to be a leader. People look at you different and that is why your integrity matters. If you are leading people there are some fundamental things you should know about people and how to lead them effectively and with a Godly purpose. Leading song service on worship day is the smallest part of being a worship leader, there is much more and if you are going to lead, you need to know what that is. Communication is a major part of leading as well as knowing where the problems are and will be in the ministry that God has entrusted you with. Sign up for this class to get deep insight into how to be the best and most effective leader you can be.

Song Writing Workshop & General Session Speaker

For David and Nicole Binion, this is an undeniable truth. Leading worship before a crowd of thousands, writing songs for the next album, or leaning in with the kids for an impromptu song at the piano, so much about life resonates with sounds of hope and faith.

We sat down for a quiet conversation with David and Nicole so we could write their official biography. In the end, we have simply shared their story. From the beginning they have trusted their relationship with the Lord, and followed the path before them. From years spent with Revivalist Tommy Tenney, through the challenges of itinerant ministry, and the pure joy of collaborations with gospel songwriter Andrae Crouch, to today, leading worship at Covenant Church in Dallas, Texas.
