The Meaning of Life…

Many through the ages have asked a very difficult question, “What is the meaning of life?” God answers that question quite simply through His words and His actions.

You — you are the meaning of life.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. He created every living thing; the oceans and land, plants and trees, animals of all sorts. He created a paradise. And then…..He made man and woman. God breathed life into mankind and gave all the earth to them as a gift.

God’s love for us is the reason we exist. Our lives were created for the sole purpose to receive love from the Father and to return that love back to Him. However, sin drove a wedge of separation between us and God. Man’s own desire for independence, thinking we knew ‘better’ created a gap that distorted our view of His love. But God had a solution…

Fully God, Fully Man

Enter Jesus. God’s enduring love for us was why Jesus came to earth as a man to take on the weight of what we could not bear. He left the glory of heaven and the side of His Father to take on flesh and live and, ultimately, die for us — you and me. Jesus lived a sinless life, loved the unlovable and outcasts, flipped religion on it’s head and died an undeserved death. He did it with one motivation — love. “No one takes my life away from me. I give my own life freely. I have the right to give my life, and I have the right to get it back again. This is what the Father told me.” – John 10:18

Jesus’ death on the cross and miraculous resurrection three days later is the cornerstone of our faith. It is because of this act of love that mankind finds redemption and reconciliation with God. Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth and the life. No man comes to the Father but by me.” Jesus became the bridge that covers the gap between us and God that was made in the garden of Eden with Adam and Eve’s rebellion. Jesus is fully God so He alone could bear the weight of all our sin but He is also fully man so that He has the right to be our sacrifice.

The Simple Gospel

Every person on the planet from every generation has the same decision to make. The path that leads each of us to that place may be different, complex and even difficult but the action it takes to make that decision is simple.

  1. Realize and admit that you are a sinner in need of Jesus.
  2. Believe that Jesus is exactly who He says He is, the Messiah, God’s Son, our Savior and Redeemer.
  3. Confess those things with your mouth and believe them in your heart.
Your Story

If you’re reading this statement right now you might be at that place of decision. Maybe you’re having a hard time believing this is really true or maybe you’ve been hurt in the past so it’s hard to trust God that He really is good and really does love you. We’ve all been there. Even though everyone’s story is different, we’ve all been hurt, broken and disappointed. But Jesus has felt all those things too and He’s been with you every moment you experienced those things as well. It doesn’t matter to God in what condition you come to Him, just as long as you come. Romans 5:8 states that “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this; while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” That means that God loved you at your darkest. So may today mark a new chapter in your story. Let today be the day you come home to your Father. Let today be the day you know real love.

Here’s a simple prayer that you can say:

Father, I know that I have lived my own way and my sin has kept us apart. I’m sorry and ask if You will forgive me. I believe that You sent your Son, Jesus, to die for me and that through Him I can be with You. I accept the gift of Your salvation as well as your love and grace for me. I give You my life just as You gave Yours for me. Help me each day to know You better and continue to walk in Your love.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

Welcome home. We’re so excited that you have decided to give your life to Jesus. Now comes the hard part; the journey. Jesus never promised life would be easy but know you’re never alone.
